Warframe Free-to-play Space Ninjas Shooter is on PS4

The best gaming news website DLCentral discovers that publisher and developer Digital Extremes has revealed that its free-to-play PVE shooter, Warframe, will be a PlayStation 4 launch title.

Already available on PC, Warframe will be free to download, instead making its money from micro-transactions. Players will be able buy parts, weapons, and the titular ‘Warframes’, aka the customizable exo-armour worn by the space ninjas (aka the Tenno), using Credits, which can be earned in-game by completing missions etc., or Platinum, which must be purchased with real-world money.

As you can probably deduce from the trailer, Warframe is co-op and supports up to four players. And because its space ninjas, there’s also an element of acrobatic free-running involved as well as the third-person shooting and slashing. Each space ninja’s abilities and skills are determined by the Warframe they’re wearing – the techno-suits are customizable and offer boosts such as increased speed, shooting accuracy, and shield regeneration.

Etoo event brings alternative E3 show to London

Sony-sponsored event will feature guest speakers, live-streams and more

Between June 10th and 13th, E3 will be coming to London in the form of an alternative event know as Etoo. The idea is the brainchild of veteran games industry writer, Keith Stuart (The Guardian) and developer Georg Backer who decided to hold an event in the UK for those unable to jet off to the U.S of A.

The sold-out event is taking place at London’s Loading Bar and will live-stream all of the press conferences taking place at E3. There will also be guest speakers on each night including Joe Danger developers, Hello Games, playable demos of Duck Tales HD and Lost Planet 3 from Capcom and event sponsor Sony will have The Last of Us for people to play.

PlayStation 4 gets PlanetSide 2 and DC Universe Online

Sony Online Entertainment has announced that two of its PC MMOs will be available for PlayStation 4 later this year. PlanetSide 2 and DC Universe Online are both free-to-play, with players able to purchase items via digital download in-game if they want.

PlanetSide 2 is a first-person shooter which pitches different factions against each other across vast, open-world battlegrounds.

Some new MotoGP 13 DLC has arrived completely unannounced for Xbox 360 and PS3, and is available to download now for completely no money at all. It’s free. Gratis. No charge. Here’s the official description of what you can get for absolutely nothing:

PlayStation 4 will instantly allow you to play games as you download them

Download and update games while the power is switched off

During the Sony presentation for PlayStation 4, lead system architect Mark Cerny announced that DLC and software updates will work in the background or even when the machine is switched off. Witchcraft? Not quite, it’s the secondary custom chip inside PS4 that allows background downloads to take place.

Mr Cerny explains it better…

‘PlayStation 4 also has a secondary custom chip that manages uploads and downloads. As a result it’s possible to download or update games in the background, or with the main power off. One step further – on PlayStation 4 digital titles are playable while being downloaded. When you purchase a title you download just a fraction of the data and the rest of the data is downloaded in the background as you play the game’

Since the mysterious teaser video Sony put out on February 1st, the interwebz have been awash with PlayStation 4 rumours. All suspicion will be erased on February 20th when Sony host a conference in New York to explain just what the hell is going down.
