Injustice: Gods Among Us – Exclusive Q&A with NetherRealm Studios

Developer talks DLC, Scorpion complaints, and how extra content is driven by the fans

Injustice: Gods Among Us DLC is always surrounded by lively speculation, fevered anticipation, and consistently divides opinion amongst its players and fan-base. To find out a little more about the work that goes into creating the extra content, how much planning is behind its DLC schedule, and if managing fan disappointment is a headache, we fired some questions to Adam Urbano, senior producer at Injustice developer NetherRealm Studios. And he replied with answers…

DLCentral: Is a second Injustice DLC Season Pass a possibility?

Adam Urbano: Probably not. Additional DLC content after the four included in the Season Pass is driven entirely by our fans – for instance, we decided to add Martian Manhunter only after there was such a huge number of requests to see him added. Similarly, the DLC S.T.A.R. Labs missions were never envisioned when we created the season pass, so we had to …

Injustice DLC: Dev drops clues for next character, causes mass confusion

We were pretty confident the next Injustice: Gods Among Us character to be released as DLC after Martian Manhunter would be either Red Hood or Zatanna. It makes perfect sense for it to be one of those two, and we wrote this article saying so. But now Ed Boon, the game’s creative director and serial Twitter troll, has been dropping some ‘clues’ as to the next fighter’s identity and things have… stopped making so much sense.

The first clue was posted yesterday:

And the second clue was posted earlier today:

Both tweets link through to a video of the NBC public service announcement ‘The More You Know’ logo.

We’re not very good at working out clues and codes, but we ARE good at reading what …

Forza Horizon: Rally Pack DLC Review

Arcade racer takes a hard right into uncharted territory

The open-world freedom of the excellent Forza Horizon takes a more linear route with this rally expansion. Instead of screeching through traffic in one of the many hot rides across a beautiful Colorado, you’re funneled down dirt tracks with a co-driver barking out instructions.

There’s a whiff of the Colin McRae’s about it, which is unsurprising seeing as a few of the developers worked on the series before heading to Playground Games. The arcade smooth controls are fully intact, but the difference between topping the podium and watching on with tears in your eyes will require excellent reflexes. Or, y’know, an overuse of the rewind function.

Your mission is straightforward enough – gain enough points from the individual rally events to grab your place in the final. There are five new cars to bomb about in that will keep rally purists happy including the 1992 Ford Escort Cosworth and the ‘Group …

New Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 DLC uncovered, two new packs incoming?

YouTube investigators stumble upon potential release dates

Internet super sleuths have unearthed what could be the release dates for the next two Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 DLC packs. MP1st.com picked up on a YouTube post (video below) by TWinnSANE, which claims to have found the details lying in the code for Call of Duty: Elite’s website. If true, you can expect the two new expansions on July 2nd and August 27th.

Adding further weight to the find is the fact that both dates fall on a Tuesday when Xbox Live is traditionally updated with new content. The first of Black Ops 2′s four scheduled map packs – Revolution (which 360 users can play for free this weekend) and Uprising – both landed on a Tuesday as well.

It’s only a rumour so far, but we’ve fired off a mail to ask Activision to clarify the situation. We’ll update the story accordingly, if and when we hear back.

Skullgirls gets Eliza as third DLC character as PayPal play the bad guy

Skullgirls developer, Lab Zero Games has announced that Eliza will be the third DLC character to come out of the successful crowd-funded project. This is great news for the indie developer and fans of the 2D beat ‘em-up, but there’s a dark side to this story too – enter the unlikely pantomime villain of PayPal.

Yup, according to VG247 the online payment empire told Lab Zero Games that they weren’t prepared to offer any potential refunds to IndieGoGo backers of extra Skullgirls content. Basically, the majority of folk donating money use PayPal – a whopping $700,000 of $829,000 – and in an unprecedented move told the developers that they were withholding the cash until they could reach an agreement on refund – PayPal arguing they shouldn’t have to pay out.

The ramifications of such a move meant that the developers were unable to be paid for their hard work on Skullgirls, which sucks. But after Lab Zero Games CEO, Peter …
